Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland during a graduation speech last spring noted that we are living through an inflection point and defined it as; “a time of transformation that comes once every five or six generations”. Calling it an “upheaval which is going to the roots of humanity itself, offering the renewal of our civilization's fundamental values and of its fundamental promise. Indeed I believe this will be the essential work of our time our era”.
Since then I have heard this phrase used several times by politicians, the msm as well as alternative media sources. It seems as though this idea is beginning to gain traction.
It is an interesting concept to explore and then hopefully find some firm footing for what we are living through.
For the past ~30yrs the term “Progressive” has been used to describe what we often see as left wing ideology. The main theme promoted by Progressives is that by adopting and implementing progressive programs and values in our society, we will move towards a better world. They often use the catch phrase; “they would rather be Progressive than regressive (conservative)”. Which is an attempt to insult anyone who disagrees with their ideas. Critics however note that many of these progressive groups identify themselves as Marxist. For example the leaders of the American Black Lives Matter group have publicly stated that they are trained Marxists. This seems to imply that at its core the Progressive movement seeks change through some fairly dark ideas.

At the start of the Covid pandemic many of the Progressive left (Freeland, Trudeau, the WEF, WHO, UN etc.) were stating that the pandemic was a great opportunity to implement programs that they were previously unable to. They saw how the lockdowns, social distancing, masking, etc. could be used to further their goals. As the effects of the protocols began to take affect, society as a whole began to show signs of stress. Increased suicide, violence, protests were becoming more common… and then an interesting thing happened; the role out of the vaccine.
Consider the language used to promote the vaccine; “we can’t go back to normal until everyone is vaccinated”. Understand this, we were heading (progressing) in one direction and increasingly people were growing upset, and then the vaccines came offering a way “back” (regressing), and people gladly accepted the vaccines (and the vaccine passports), thus showing there true belief.
It is my contention, that many in the progressive movement have been a part of it simply for the good jobs and pay. teachers, doctors, nurses, judges, politicians and many more followers of the movement, have all been cashing in. For more than 30yrs being “progressive” was good. Good for life and for business. Mostly because it did not directly affect those implementing the programs. For example, cities that implemented progressive drug policies have declined. While the Progressives (the people) who implemented the programs have simply moved away to better neighborhoods to escape the mess they created. However, under lockdown, they were directly affected, unable to escape, and the price for many was too high. They gave up their humanity (their genetic identity) to go back to the way things were before the pandemic.
Today we see similar strategies being used to promote war with Russia and the Middle East. Politicians, and Canadians must show “unwavering” support for Ukraine to defend the democracies in the progressive west. Prime Minister Trudeau says that Conservatives (Regressives) do “not stand” with Ukraine.
It is interesting to note how Trudeau utters the phrase “not stand'“ (which he says 3 times in the clip above). He says it in particular way making it sound a lot like “nazi”. He barks it out (and his party applauds). He is doubling down on having invited the Nazi soldier to the HoC. Therefore, to be Progressive today, is to be in step with the party of war.
So, I ask, what are we “progressing” towards. Are Progressives now actively pushing society towards the upheaval described by Freeland? Is war (ww3) the goal of the progressive movement? Have the goals of the Progressive (Marxist) movement been reached? Have we passed the inflection point or is it still coming?
I don’t have the answers to these questions. I fear however, that in the same way people were duped into taking the mRNA “vaccine”, so too will they be duped into ever escalating war. That, it seems is at the heart of the Progressive movement, and unless we confront it directly we will be forced along this path, like it or not.
Why, they're "progressing" towards a "better democracy". Everything they do is to 'save democracy'. In their minds anyway.
Progressivism has become a euphemism for authoritarianism. It has no regard for the established (classical) liberal institutions of the West. Which makes Freeland's - in all her vapid sloppy scolding sophistry of nebulous nonsense - speech all the more bizarre. if you listen closely she's saying liberal democracy and its capitalistic economic system ostensibly rooted in free and voluntary trade (but really operates in a box of cronyism) can't rise to the challenge she invented in her head.
Freeland already gave a test of her visions on how to proceed through the Emergencies Act. She made loud and clear at POEC where he "principles" lie. The law is too pesky to follow when there's an 'emergency' for example. Therefore, we must be "agile" and circumnavigate it. She's taking the theory of the "state of exception" and running with it playing Calvin Ball.
These people are Marxistst - by other means. I say this because they don't have the courage to admit that's what they are.
In the minute that I could stomach listening to freakland it didn’t sound like an endearing crowd. As much as I detest her and Trudeau I kinda feel pity.
